Frenchy Lamp

Wednesday is my day off from work every week so my mom and I usually go shopping that day. We're a dangerous combination when it comes to shopping... we seem to always spend all of our money when we're together. But it's just oh-so-fun! So last Wednesday we went to our usual places, Marshall's and T.J.Maxx. I found this lamp at T.J.Maxx and I am in love. They had two; I bought one, my mom bought the other.

It's so pretty with its dramatic turned base and natural linen shade covered in French script writing. As we wheeled them out in our shopping cart, I heard a lady gushing to her friend, "Oh, look at those lamps... those are gorgeous! Oh just look at them!" And they are. Just gorgeous. The only problem?

I wish I would have bought BOTH! I should have quickly snatched up the other one before my mom had a chance to see it! I'm trying to convince her to sell her's back to me. We'll see if I'm successful or not.

A little birds' nest that Jesse found and brought home. :)

Tomorrow is another Wednesday! Time to shop 'til we drop! Or until we run out of money; whichever comes first.

If I Had Three Wishes

I would wish for:

#1. A new light fixture for our dining room. I'm dying to have a lantern like this!

#2. A big farmhouse sink. I might enjoy doing dishes if I had one of these... or maybe not.

#3. A clawfoot tub.

And of course, a house of our very own to put them all in.

Jibber Jabber

Have you seen the movie Bruce Almighty? Remember the part where Steve Carell is trying to do his news broadcast, but nothing but jibberish is coming out? That's a little how I'm feeling today. None of the thoughts in my head are making any sense when they come out of my mouth. Maybe it's the rainy weather, maybe it's the shamefully sugary breakfast I had this morning... whatever the reason, my brain has called in sick. Blahh.

I had a day off of work yesterday, and decided to spruce up this little nook at home. The cabinet sits at the end of a hallway between the two bedrooms and is used to store extra towels and linens. It was one of those things I kind of wished I wouldn't have bought... so I plopped a few pretty things on top, added some baskets, and now I love it! My favorite thing is the chalkboard from Target. I use it to write down daily verses or words of encouragement; makes me smile every time I walk by.

The deer antler belongs to my hubby. He was tickled to see that I incorporated something of his into my decorating. :)

Mom and Dad's Nest

For fourteen years of my life, this is what I called "home." If my memory and math serve me right (they hardly ever do), my dad built this saltbox in 1995. Or something close to that. The wide plank wood flooring, abundance of windows, and rustic wood beams are just a few of the millions of reasons I love this place.

This will always be "home" to me.

A New Addition!

Well... we have a new addition to the family! No, not a baby- a new piece of furniture! Which for me, is probably just as exciting as a baby. I've been wanting this ever since we moved into the duplex. Our kitchen is very skimpy on storage, and this was a perfect solution...

A sparkly new cabinet!

This was actually a display unit in my mom's gift shop. We closed the shop down last year, and I got to keep this. My dad built the cabinet, but without doors. So my husband, being the wonderful man that he is, made the doors, matched the paint and glaze color, and ta-da! I love it. He still needs to attach the handles on the lower doors... but I couldn't wait to show it off. :)

All-Time Favorite Living Room

Okay, so I'm not so good at keeping up with this thing. Shame on me! I'll try to do better. I'll keep my jibber-jabber short and sweet and leave you with one of my favorite images of all time. The perfect living room.
